Transitioning from Mom driver to Uber driver in the day time is humorous----well, let me rephrase that---I find humor all day long, loving mirth most of the time; but it is simply interesting when a passenger hops into the front seat, especially when it was recently adjusted to accommodate Elias's 6'1" frame. They hop in, and generally talk more in the front seat, like we are mutual acquaintances, which is pleasant. The ones that hop in the front and do not talk very much are the most awkward for me; those who do not talk much, and sit in the back are generally just on their phone, distracted and on their way to work. I don't suppose I would be happy to have to go to a job on the weekend either. Those going to friend's houses, or to hang out Uptown, are generally upbeat and excited.
Recently, I was happy to find the statues at the city center, finally, as I was on my way to my last pick up for the day. My husband had told me of the large statues, on the corners of an intersection, and how 3 honored the various aspects of the past, and yet all 3 statues looked to the 4th, which is a woman holding a baby in the air, symbolizing the future. Having just moved to Charlotte this past year, I really identify with those statues, and love how the past is recognized, but the future is what is the focus. I feel like Charlotte is going to be a great place for our family to settle down in, and am especially excited about what the future holds. Getting to know the city and it's people has been amazing fun so far, driving for Uber, whether they sit in the front or the back. What keeps a smile on my face is being in the driver's seat, and loving being in charge of my own time and hours, just like my college experience online with Liberty University. Having the freedom and ability to choose the hours I work is amazing!
